South Jersey Expertise You Can Feel
Mulch depth matters more in South Jersey than most homeowners realize. Camden County's sandy, well-draining soils lose moisture quickly in summer — proper mulching is one of the most effective ways to protect your plantings from heat stress during July and August. The sweet spot is 2–3 inches. Too thin and you lose the weed suppression and moisture benefits; too thick (more than 4 inches) can suffocate roots and trap moisture against plant stems, causing rot.
We use quality hardwood mulch and can source dyed varieties if you prefer a specific look. We also keep mulch pulled back from tree and shrub bases — a detail many crews skip, but one that prevents the fungal issues and bark rot that "mulch volcanoes" cause over time.
